Who is responsible
Abel Locksmiths is the controller of personal information supplied through this website or in later correspondence. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to info@abellocksmiths.co.uk or made by calling 07507 453 164.
What the website collects
The enquiry form collects your name, phone number and/or email address, postcode or town, problem description, reply preference and acknowledgement of this notice. A hidden anti-spam field is also used. Cloudflare processes limited request information, such as an IP address and browser details, to deliver the site, enforce the form rate limit and operate short-lived technical logs.
Please do not send alarm codes, photographs of keys, payment-card details or other sensitive security information.
Why the information is used
Enquiry details are used to understand the request, check coverage and availability, provide an estimate, arrange work and answer related questions. This is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract and, when work is booked, to provide the requested service. Legal obligations apply to relevant invoices and tax records. Legitimate interests are used to protect the form and website from misuse.
The information is not sold or used for unrelated marketing.
Services that process information
Cloudflare provides website hosting, rate limiting and the server-side email service that delivers enquiries. The form does not create a customer database on the website. The delivered email is handled in Abel Locksmiths’ Google Workspace mailbox. These providers process information under their own security arrangements and may use approved international-transfer safeguards where data is handled outside the UK.
Technical logs do not include the problem description. Cloudflare’s platform logs are retained for no more than seven days.
How long information is kept
Enquiry correspondence is kept only until the enquiry has been answered and there is no reasonable need to refer to it. If an enquiry becomes part of a completed job, invoice or tax record, the relevant information is kept for the period required by UK tax law: generally at least five years after the 31 January filing deadline for the relevant tax year. Information may be kept longer where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
Maps, reviews, WhatsApp and cookies
The core website does not run advertising or visitor analytics and does not set non-essential cookies. The Google service-area map is not loaded until you choose to load it. Loading that map, opening a Google review link or using WhatsApp connects to that external provider; it may receive technical information and use cookies or local storage under its own privacy terms.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your information, correction, erasure or restriction, and you may object to some uses of it. Contact info@abellocksmiths.co.uk first so the request can be handled. You can also make a data-protection complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (opens in a new tab).
